Why the Democrats shouldn't cut the $600 weekly sweetener to unemployment benefits
Also, why Donald Trump should endorse--and maybe even will!--a $15 minimum wage

My latest for the New Republic points out that two months of falling unemployment make it hard to argue that overly generous unemployment benefits are dissuading the unemployed to seek work … and that if Donald Trump is all bent out of shape about people getting paid too much not to work then he should raise the wage floor to $15. (I think it’s actually possible that he’ll do this.)
As a guy who just filed for UI for the second time in my life, and lives in a state with the highest unemployment rate in the nation, I second your motion.
